Foxy ladies - FOX RLT 100

After suffering another depressing ride watching my Pace Rc38's lose all their air it was time for a change and on the shopping list was a set of Fox RLT 100's, I was also looking at the FX range that have the terra logic control valve that locks them up when the going is smooth and then operates the forks when the going gets tough.

After reading several reviews and speaking to a few of the local bike shops I decided against the fx series. They do seem to suit the out and out racer and as thats definitley not me I've gone with the RLT 100's. I did shop about on the internet but there weren't any savings to be had so I went to my local bike shop Steele's in Newcastle. I dropped the bike off at 9am and had it back by 3, all done. The cost was £549 and they were also offering interest free credit that I took advantage of. Well impressed so far!

I got the bike home and started setting them up, as I'm a fat little barrel I set them up with only a little sag, I also set the compression and rebound as the manual stated which was 6 clicks in on both, this seemed to be just about perfect as when dropping off the kerbs it felt silky smooth and was not throwing me off the bike.

The forks had a baptism of fire as their first ride was up at Rothbury, this is a great area and although not a fast trail it is very technical and rocky. The forks performed faultlessly with no air loss, yippee. it was an absolute pleasure not to be fannying on adjusting them half way round. With regards how smooth the forks are compared to others I really don't know at this stage, they feel like my Paces for smoothness but there is definitley less flex with the Foxes. The forks have done several more rides and seem to keep getting better. Their best outing so far had to be the Burrels Festival of Pain at Glentress. The forks were awesome, they absorbed everything the border hills could throw at them and my hands, arms and shoulders certainly felt much better than if I'd been on the Paces. Also I have never needed to top this fork up with air as when checking it, the forks have not dropped in pressure, Sweet!

The pluses

They look the muts nuts
Made of kryptonite
Quality feel
Plushness
No air leak
Light as a fart
Lockout

The doon side

They cost as much as a nuclear weapon
They come with both disc mounts and Canti mounts (who uses canti's anymore!)

So far I've been really impressed with them, the quality is fantastic, the controls for the rebound and compression have a real nice positive feel and the fact that they have been reliable for the past 4 months is a great relief, I absolutley love these forks and if your considering getting them I honestly think you couldn't buy better.
